Setting: New York Fashion Week. “Welcome to Wakanda” Black Panther Party. Industria, NYC. Monday, February 12th, 2018.
I’m very excited to let you know that I went to New York Fashion Week for the second time and it was even better than the first – minus the cold weather, of course.
The last show that I attended was the “Welcome to Wakanda” fashion show and party and it was the delight of my trip to New York. Before I share my experience, check out the basic girl in me posing for a red carpet picture↓.

Black People Showed Up + Showed Out
These are some grabs from people who were representing in their African inspired couture. The event was filled with color (both clothes and people), and to me, it was #blackexcellence all around because of the energy and support in the room from everyone.
I had to leave the party early because I had to return to school early Tuesday morning, and I am mad at myself for this. It just so happens that when I left the party, the cast of the Black Panther movie showed up and was mingling with people.
I missed out on the chance to meet Lupita Nyong’o, Chadwick Boseman, and Michael B. Jordan, because of school!
This was one of the moments when I am sad to be in school. However, It was an excellent event that brought people of all backgrounds together. I cannot wait to see the movie.
I hope you enjoyed the ride!
Until Next Time…
